A little Irish?

The Buena Vista

The Buena Vista Cafe located at Beach & Hyde streets right across from Aquatic Park & the Hyde street pier is home to the Irish Coffee and celebrating its 56th year in business.  It is said that the Irish coffee was invented here and though know one knows for sure I can say with high authority that the Buena Vista has the best Irish coffee I have ever had in San Francisco and  beyond.  There is a richness about it that is just beyond compare.  Although they are known for their Irish coffees they also serve a great breakfast, lunch and dinner.  They pour 2,000 Irish coffees per day, minimum.  I used to work in that area years ago and would frequent  them for breakfast and lunch.  I was also able to get Irish coffees to go.  I don’t know if they normally do that or would do that as a favor to us since we knew the bartenders but that was certainly a treat.  On St. Patrick’s day each year the streets around the Buena Vista are closed off to a spectacular street party.  It’s a yearly event and hundreds take to the streets.  For more info check out http://www.thebuenavista.com
