My City By The Bay

I like oddities.  So, when journeying through the gardens in Golden Gate Park I came across these tree stumps and found them fascinating.  They reside in a patch of dirt and bushes in a circular formation.  I wondered do people picnic here?  Yet, there is no green grass.  I know the squirrels enjoy frolicking among the stumps as I’ve seen them there many times.  I have sat upon them and perused the general area yet there is no real scenery to enjoy around this area.  I rested upon them one day and wondered who put them here?  Did they put them here to display as a work of art?  Is there meaning behind these stumps or are they simply there to amuse the mind? The stumps are unique, they are even cute yet,  I still remain “stumped.”
