The Golden Gate

The day began with mist and grey cloud cover. I wanted to take a short jaunt to the Golden Gate for some new photos. I knew that the bridge would be shrouded in fog so I decided to wait for another day. While blogging and doing some work online the sun peeked through the window so I grabbed my jacket and camera and off I went to the bridge praying the blue skies and sun would remain. As you can see from the above photo we were blessed with a glorious afternoon and I was able to get some beautiful shots of the Golden Gate. I basically wanted to change the header on this blog with a new bridge photo however I was way too close to the bridge to get the size to work with the header template. So, I’ll have to take a trip along with Marina Green one of these days to get more photos. Enjoy!

Ratty - Thanks for reading and the comments. I’d love to see a photo of the Ambassador.
Dori - Thank you so much for the comment and for stopping by.
Nice pic: its got to be one of the most photogenic bridges in the world don’t you think ? Right up there with Sydney Harbours

I get a thrill every time I see the bridge ( or parts of it - for often, that is all that’s visible, a segment, the rest shrouded by fog ). Even after living in San Francisco for 32 years, I am mesmerized by it - and often wish I had my camera in my car. The bridge changes constantly. It may be completely clear when I head over to
Sausalito for lunch, then two hours later, on my return trip, it will be completely hidden by fog. Sometimes, whispy tendrils reach downward toward traffic, magical, really.
In Lisbon, there is another bridge that looks like a replica of the Golden Gate - I was amazed on a cruise when I woke up and went out on my balcony. The 25th of April suspension bridge was constructed by the same builders who did the Golden Gate and it is painted the same color! Lisbon is a pretty nice city as well!
Lis - I totaly agree. Thanks for stopping by.
Carmen - Sometimes it is at it’s best when parts of it are shrouded in fog. I’ve never seen the one in Lisbon. The Tsing Ma in Hong Kong has a striking resemblance to it as well.
