Embarcadero Ice Skating Rink

Published by jodapoet at 10:05 am under Entertainment, Leisure, San Francisco, Travel Edit This

Each year during the holidays San Francisco hosts ice skating rinks both in Union Square and the Embarcadero at Justin Herman Plaza.  The video above shows a short clip which I took yesterday at the Embarcadero rink around noon.  It is a very popular activity for both children and adults alike.  What’s funny is that you can find people ice skating out there in 80 degree weather.  We don’t have seasons here in San Francisco so no matter what the weather is, there are people ice skating.

There has been talk of making the rink a permanent fixture in that area and using it as a roller skating rink the rest of the year.  I think that’s a great idea.  Only time will tell.

I’ve never tried the outdoor rink and probably won’t with my “balance challenges” however it does look like so much fun.  A great little spot to take the family for a couple of hours of fun.
