St. Anthony Foundation
The St. Anthony foundation which has been in San Francisco for over 50 years is comprised of a meal, clothing and a free medical program. The St. Anthony dining room serves the homeless and low income with food everyday. They average about 2,500 meals per day. On Thanksgiving that number doubles. They open around 11:00 a.m. and are there until evening. They rely on volunteers and donations for this program.
They also have a free medical facility to take care of patients with basic care. 10,000 San Franciscans use these services on an annual basis. There is also a clothing and housewares programs which rely on clothes and housewares donations. It is set up like a store where low income and the homeless visit and can find clothing and different items for themselves and their families.
Without this organization in San Francisco there would be many more people hungry and cold especially during the holidays and Winter months. They provide an enormous humanitarian service to all those in need and especially today I would like to give thanks for their caring and generosity.
