My First Warthog Adoption?

I thought I’d allow you to see exactly what I look like before my morning coffee :) I took this photo at the San Francisco zoo. This little warthog was walking an attempting to go under the bridge when I leaned over and snapped this shot. I actually almost fell while trying to get the photo. It’s one of those, “he’s so ugly he’s actually cute.” While warthogs are normally about four feet long this one looks a bit smaller so he may be a baby. Though they usually live about 15 years warthogs in captivity can live up to 18 years and beyond. They are from Africa and are of the wild pig species. They eat a number of thing to include grass, bark, berries, eggs and much more… They have ivory tusks that are used to defend themselves against predators such as lions and leopards.
He is one of my favorites. I don’t know what it is but I have bonded with him. Whether it’s the tail, the tusks, the scrappy look he just makes me smile. At the San Francisco Zoo there is a program called the Adopt An Animal program which allows people to adopt their favorites. The fees are used for the care and feeding of the animals as well as their upkeep and maintenance. It is a big help to the animals and the Zoo. I figured since I have bonded with my little buddy I may look into adopting him. Though I think there are only two hogs at the zoo so I better act fast. So, what do you think - should I or should I not?

oh, i haven’t tried adopting any animal at the zoo yet since i have not inquired how it works. you’re right about the warthog, he’s so ugly he’s so cute, actually, i find them very entertaining and the way they walk makes me smile too. glad you have bonded with him, if your heart feels like adopting him, go for it.
Get him! He is sooooo adorable!! Love the picture.
Thanks everyone. I’m currently looking into the fees etc… I’ll keep ya posted.
