The Warm Coat Drive
Over 16 years ago philanthropist Lois Pavlov started the warm coat drive in San Francisco in order to help the homeless during the winter months. Since that time over 750,000 coats have been donated to the cause. Pavlov kicked off the idea throwing a party at a downtown club with the San Francisco 49ers. Over 200 coats were donated at that time. It then became a tradition and was echoed throughout the country. Today there are over 2,000 cities participating in the warm coat drive. Yesterday it reached the White House. Laura Bush vowed that the drive would continue once they are back in Dallas. A very worthy cause started by one person that reaches thousands.
