The Box Busker

Published by jodapoet at 4:38 pm under San Francisco, Travel Edit This

San Francisco has become inundated with the homeless.  Statistics show that over 75% are not even from San Francisco but come here from other states around the country in order to receive many of the free services the city offers to those in need.  With organizations like St. Anthony Foundation and Glide Memorial church, homeless people can be fed, clothed and housed in shelters.  However with so many coming here from other cities, it takes away from the people and families who are in need within San Francisco.

You will see many people on the streets asking for cash though the above video which was taken in San Francisco will show one homeless person who has a unique gig.  I would give this guy some cash just for his creativity if nothing else.  Enjoy!

It was really sad to see so many homeless people in SF when I visited in 2001.

Is the homeless “cat lady” still there on Union Square? I remember thinking how well cared for her cats looked. I guess she spends a lot of the donations she receives on her cats and not herself.

roz - lol, yes she is still there and your right the cats are well cared for. The homeless population unfortunately is growing - daily.

Glad to hear that she is still there - she’s a real character!
