Bush Street in San Francisco Changed to Obama Street

You gotta love the people here in San Francisco.  The night of the inauguration pranksters decided to go through the entire length of Bush Street from the Financial district through the Presidio and apply stickers on all of the corner signs reading Bush changing them to Obama.  Frankly I love the idea and thought it should stay that way.  However the city didn’t agree and took to the streets the following day to take down all the stickers.  Bush street by the way was not named after any president but after a boy who helped Mr. O’Farrell map out the city streets.

    Yeah, they should have left them like that. I think it would be a good idea to have a street named after the current president. It wouldn’t be too confusing if they just call it president street or something similar to it though.

    In Portland there was a furor when the city wanted to name a street after Dr. King. Seems, the area residents didn’t want a ‘troublemaker’ to get so much attention. In response, students at Reed college changed all the signs to ‘Malcolm X Blvd’.

    Dee - I completely agree with you. I’d love an Obama street here.

    paul - I think so too. I’m sure someone must have seen the signs being changed but they probably like it.
