Demonstrators Criticize Obama In San Francisco

Published by jodapoet under News, San Francisco, Travel Edit This

They chanted “There shall be a world without demons.”  Well it didn’t take long.  I wondered when the first protest would take place against something our President thought worthy of action.

On Saturday, abortion rights opponents marched in San Francisco for the anniversary of Roe v. Wade.  This is the fifth year of the march and decided to criticize President Obama’s action of lifting a ban on federal funds to international family planning groups who offer abortions.

In the words of Reverend Clenard Childress Jr. with the Life Education and Resource Network, “We should let him know we are not going to accept a radical pro abortion agenda and we should let him know we support him in just laws, not unjust laws.”

Radical?  What is radical about lifting that ban?  Unjust laws?  Not allowing a woman to choose what is right for her is unjust - not the other way around.  Mr. Reverend, I now would like to ask you a question, have you ever heard of equal rights for all?

Lunar New Year Flower Market

The Lunar New Year Flower Market annual celebration hosted at the San Francisco Botanical Gardens  was a flower lover’s paradise.  From orchids to bonsai to African violets and more there was something for everyone.  The orchids displayed were simply lovely.  There were all types of vendors showing plant species, arts and decorative wares.  There were also special performances, more about this in tomorrow’s post and raffles being held every half hour.

My favorites were the orchids.  My father raised orchids in our greenhouse for years so I grew to love the plants.  There were several different species and all with that delicate floral beauty and colors to blend.  It was a truly beautiful display.

Narcisuss

As you can see by the narcissus price above at $5.00 this was an inexpensive flower show.  All the booths were festively decorated in red for good luck.

Bonsai Society

The San Francisco Bonsai Society who’s mission it is to educate the general public about bonsai and their care and keep had a prominent display at the flower market.  The society holds workshops, lectures and events all year long.
