This brilliantly crafted tribute to our City By The Bay was produced by Sony Holland & Jerry Holland with music and lyrics by Jerry Holland. With new vocals and remixed, this CD brings San Francisco to life with passion and pleasure.
The CD is eco-packaged with hip and stylish graphics care of Terry and Chris Dudley. Ms. Holland graces the cover with a colorful portraiture of confidence and grace accompanied by a 3D title that completes the look. The inside flap boasts a gorgeous evening shot of downtown San Francisco along with a special note from Sony Holland. The CD holder flap hosts a soulful photo of Ms. Holland in performance. The back cover is intricately styled with song credits and a beautiful snapshot of Sony depicting the excitement and passion this talented singer brings to this CD.
Eleven tunes grace this disk. The title track “On A San Francisco High” is a tribute to San Francisco capturing the sights and sounds of our fair city.
The streets are filled with music
and alive with style and light
there’s a sweet nirvana stirring
on a jazzy North Beach night
The title track is followed by “The Liberal Ladies Of San Mateo” written about friends’ of Sony who live in San Mateo as well as the witty and colorfully written “In Marin” also about friends living in the area.
“The Trouble Is” depicts a woman with that all too familiar heart vs head struggle over a man. Haven’t we all been there? This tune captures the true essence of that struggle.
Chestnut Street is located in the Marina District of San Francisco. The shops and eateries are high end in nature and cater to the ‘in crowd” of San Francisco. The song talks about life on this bustling street. The song “Chestnut Street” and the entire CD On A San Francisco High were winners of the Best Original Song and Vocal Jazz CD categories of the JPF Independent Music Awards.
One of my favorites, “Whirlwind Romance” has a Latin rhythm with a solo flute that is just extraordinary. The band behind this CD gem is truly second to none.
There are a total of eleven cleverly written and passionately delivered original tunes with a flavor and ambiance that is only San Francisco.

The new “green” album cover is really something, one of the best pictures I’ve ever seen of Sony. The Dudleys have done an outstanding job with their photography and, of course, all the songs on this CD are written by that incredible songwriter, Jerry Holland. I think this CD is so special for anyone who cherishes San Francisco.
“On a San Francisco High” rivals “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” as a theme song for this city by the bay and it is a gift I give to everyone I love who visits.
