My City By The Bay

Sandra Cantu, an eight year old second grader living at the Orchard Estates mobile home park in Tracy, California went missing on Friday at about 3:00 pm.  She had left her home to go to a friend’s house and has not been seen since.

Her Mother says she knows not to leave the mobile home park area.  She is however very friendly and has a bubbly personality.  The FBI is now in on the case along with several different law enforcement agencies around the country.  Aerial and ground searches are ongoing for the missing second grader and there are “people of interest” in the case including a man who lives within the same park.  There is now a twenty thousand dollar reward for information about Sandra Cantu.

Her family is distraught yet has hope they will find her.  I’ve been seeing this story on the news everyday and it deeply disturbs me.  There absolutely has to be someone out there who knows something about this little girl.  Despite some earlier statements saying that although it is not probable it is possible that she ran away -  My reaction to that statement, made by the police is “your full of crap.”  She’s eight years old, she did not run away.

In any case, my reason for posting this blog today is to bring some much needed awareness not only to this case but for missing children all over.  Personally, I think allowing an eight year old to go out unsupervised is wrong.  I’m not here to blame the parents or anyone else but it is just my opinion that in this day and age we need to be more careful when it comes to our children.
