Sandra Cantu Case - Did The Grandparents Of The Killer Know Anything
While there is nothing new to report on this case, there is something I need to comment on in regards to the grandparents of Melissa Huckaby who is currently on suicide watch in the San Joaquin jail.
While watching the news the other night and seeing reports from all over the news stations as to the statement the pastor and his wife made on camera, it seems to me they know alot more than they are saying. In fact it would not surprise me at all if they had much more to do with Sandra’s murder. Look at this statement made by Huckaby’s grandmother talking about Sandra Cantu.
“She was the sweetest little thing and it just breaks our heart to think that anyone would take such a tiny little thing and abuse her and murder her,” said Connie Lawless, Huckaby’s mother.
Think about this statement for a minute. This statement was made before Sandra Cantu was ever found. To date, we still don’t know how she was killed. We know her killer now but we do not know exactly what happened. It has never been mentioned anywhere that Sandra was abused so my question is why did the grandmother even mention abuse unless she knows much more. Huckaby and the grandparents all lived together only 5 doors away from Cantu. It’s been reported that Sandra was abducted and killed by Huckaby only moments after we all saw her skipping down the street in that surveillance video.
What happened absolutely infuriates me. And, the thought that they have Huckaby under suicide watch infuriates me even more. I say, let her commit suicide. After what she did I truly believe she does not deserve to be on this earth.

Come on, how many of us WEREN’T thinking that the poor little girl was abused and murdered? Just because she SAID it and happens to be related to the suspect doesn’t mean she was necessarily involved.
Evelyn, Well the fact that she said it, the fact that Sandra was murdered only minutes after going to that residence where the grandparents and murderer lived is a bit coincidental. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they all had something to with the murder.
(pardon if this is a duplicate post, not sure if the last one took) I think we are only aware of her having said that because they were being spotlighted by the media after questioning. I read there was no evidence of trauma to her body, indicating possibly no abuse even took place. In any case, it’s so bizarre that the grandparents may as well have been involved. Do you have any theories as to what may have taken place?
Evelyn - I haven’t heard anything about what happened. The last I heard was that though the autopsy was complete that they had to wait for toxicology reports. I haven’t heard anything since so I didn’t know about her not having any trauma to her body. And, what is so disturbing that I cannot even fathom why anyone would do this to a child. It’s so horrible I have know theories as to why.
it is really sad to hear stories such as this one. Hard to understand someone as sane as a Sunday school teacher could do a horrible thing like killing a an innocent child.
“Hard to understand someone as sane as a Sunday school teacher could do a horrible thing like killing a an innocent child.”
What in the world leads you to believe that just because someone involves her or him self in an organized religion that he or she is SANE?????
The two things are NOT connected!!!
girl_barrie, I applaud your comment. Most people are sane, whether in an organized religion or not. However, the outliers exist - and since most people identify with a religion, most insane people will be religious, simply because of the sheer number of religious people.
I do think those who refrain from religion live with less delusions and more need of evidence than those who worship an invisible cloud buddy.
As to the comment, “Let her commit suicide”, this is not rational, nor does it lie in the realm of normal. One of the reasons we have checks and balances - and a presumption of innocence - is because MISTAKES ARE MADE. Introduce yourself to The Innocence Project and retract your statement which lies closer to repugnant than not, whether or not she is innocent. Wanting someone to kill themselves is not a healthy reaction.
This breaks my heart.
i agree the grandmother must know something because she spoke about that baby being dad and abuse before she was even found
redplanet - I find it repugnant that you would refer to the murder of an innocent child as a “mistake.” I will not retract any statements I have made. We are all free to express our opinions. That is why your comment was not moderated. I believe in free speech and as such I think you need to look a little deeper into this case. Huckaby will also be charged with rape in addition to murder. Still thinks it’s a mistake?
Becky - it breaks my heart as well. Thank you for commenting
tonya - since Huckaby will now be charged with rape as well it seems that the grandparents did know since that statement was made.
